Important Message Regarding Spring Break from Superintendent Clark

BCS Families,

This has been a year full of growth and change for our school district. Over summer break we moved four grade levels to a brand new elementary school, set up classrooms in record time, and even relocated our child care program to the primary school. In addition to opening a new school, bus routes were altered to accommodate an earlier start time for K-5 grade students.

During winter break all sixth and eighth grade classrooms were relocated in preparation for renovations at the old elementary school. As you’re well aware, alterations to arrival and dismissal procedures  at our Fifth Street campus continue to be made so that those renovations at the old elementary school may move forward.

In the wake of all of these changes our faculty, staff, and students continue to bring their very best to our campuses and facilities. But we know they are exhausted. That’s why the Board of Education is giving back the three days taken from spring break after our delayed start this school year. This means that our district will take our traditional 2-week spring break from Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 14.

While this is not something that’s been done before, we felt there was never a more appropriate time to show our appreciation for the efforts made each and every day across our district.  And even though it may initially present a challenge for some families, we believe the extra time will ultimately benefit both staff and students in some way.  We will work to ensure there are intersession activities available and childcare services for the families that normally use it.  Please check our website for those details in the coming days.

We hope our students will take this time to rest, recharge, and return ready to finish the 2022-23 school year strong.
