In our continuing efforts to support the well-being of all our students, we will be conducting a universal assessment of social, emotional & behavioral health. We are looking at behavioral health to support our student’s academic development. The assessment consists of a brief rating scale that is going to be completed by the homeroom or classroom teachers. In addition, students over age 12 may complete a self-rating. Together, this information helps us to understand the needs of all our students and to make effective plans at the whole school, class, and individual level. We are always working to support the needs of our school community, including school-wide programs such as positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) and our social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. It is important that your child feel that academic learning is their focus at school and that the adults they work with each day are doing all they can to create a safe and supportive environment. By continuing to integrate positive behavioral approaches into our school, we will continue to create a safe and supportive learning environment that optimizes academic outcomes for all students.
If you would like more information about the universal assessment please email Ashley Carey, school psychologist, at ashley.carey@bardstown.kyschools.us. There is also the option we present to all families for their child to not participate in the screener. If that is your choice, please complete our opt-out form.
Thank you for all your efforts to support your child in ensuring they have the best school experience possible.
Sincerely,
Bardstown City Schools
